Is this a knock-off?
No. It is an aftermarket pack built to OEM spec: Samsung 18650-25R cells, as used by Makita and Milwaukee in their original batteries, a full battery management system with short-circuit, overload, over-charge, over-voltage, under-voltage and thermal protection, and a gel-coated PCB for moisture resistance. Designed and assembled in Burleigh Heads, Queensland, and backed by a 2-year warranty.
Will it void my tool warranty?
No. Under Australian Consumer Law a manufacturer cannot void your tool warranty simply because you used a third-party battery. If a fault is ever caused by our battery, that is on us, which is what the 2-year express replacement warranty is for.
What if the thief just pulls the battery off the tool?
Then you are tracking the battery, which is usually exactly what you want. Batteries are among the most stolen and most often left behind items on a site, and a stolen kit almost always travels with its batteries. To cover the toolbox, the trailer or the tools themselves as well, pair it with a Toolbox Tracker or a Trailer & Car Tracker.
Will the thief get an alert on their phone?
Possibly, and it is fair to know that up front. Apple's unwanted-tracking alerts can notify an iPhone user that a tracker is travelling with them, and that applies to every Find My device including AirTags. In practice stolen tools are moved and sold quickly, so the location you get in the first few hours is what matters. Pass it to police rather than going after the gear yourself.
What if it doesn't perform like the factory pack?
Send it back. Any battery can be returned within 14 days of purchase for a full refund less shipping, no questions asked, used or unused. If it is ever faulty, express replacement means you order the replacement, send the old one back, and we refund the replacement once it is inspected, so you are never off the tools.
Does it work with Android?
Not on the batteries. Tracking runs on Apple Find My, so you need an iPhone, iPad or Mac to set it up and see the location. Our Toolbox, Trailer and Magnet trackers are available in an Android version that uses Google Find Hub.
How does the tracker get charged?
It does not draw from the battery cells, so a flat pack never means a lost tool. The tracker runs about a year per charge and tops up on any Qi wireless charging pad, the same kind you would charge a phone on.
